Double Fatal Head On Traffic Collision

On Sunday, August 20, 2023, at approximately 11:33 P.M., a 2008 Honda CRV, driven by a 20 year old male of Lake Elsinore, CA and a Nissan Sentra, driven by a 23 year old female from Costa Mesa, CA were involved in a double fatal traffic collision on SR-74 just west of 7th Street.

The Honda CRV was traveling eastbound SR-74 just west of 7th street in the #1 lane at an unknown speed. The Nissan Sentra was traveling westbound SR-74 just west of 7th Street in the #2 lane at an unknown speed, approaching the Honda CRV’s location. For unknown reasons at this time, the male driver allowed his Honda CRV to travel across the painted solid double yellow lines. The Honda CRV entered into the westbound traffic lanes of SR-74. The Honda CRV collided head on with the Nissan Sentra. Both vehicles came to rest of their wheels blocking traffic traffic lanes.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Cal Fire responded to the collision scene. Both the male driver of the Honda CRV and the female driver of the Nissan Sentra were pronounced deceased at the scene It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol played a role in this traffic collision. The CHP, Temecula Area is conducting this traffic collision investigation.
