- DPS troopers received reports of a wrong way driver in a silver Honda traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-10 near 7th Avenue around 3:30 AM.
- A short time later, troopers received reports of a multi-vehicle collision with 2 vehicles fully engulfed in flames.
- Phoenix fire crews responded to the scene, dispatching a first alarm medical response.
- Crews arrived and extinguished the flames.
- 2 people were pronounced deceased on scene and 3 people were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.
- Troopers have established a hard closure for eastbound I-10 east of the 17 stack.
- The closure is expected to remain in place for around 3 hours as the crash is investigated.
