Double Explosion Destroys Apartment | El Cajon

03.04.2022 | 8:16 AM | EL CAJON – Neighbors told us that the 1st explosion rocked and lifted the floor of their upstairs apartment and when they came outside, they witnessed the 2nd explosion blow out the windows of the 1st floor apartment below them. They could also smell a chemical in the air coming from the apartment.

One person told us that the smell was that of ether, which is normally associated with a “meth” lab.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the apartment.

The apartment’s resident was not inside at the time.

the fire was put out and the resident is now being questioned.

The Sheriff’s Bomb & Arson Team has arrived and is investigating the incident.

There were no reported injuries, but there is damage to the surrounding apartment units.
