Domestic Violence Suspect Leads Police On Lengthy Pursuit | Phoenix

- AZ DPS received a call from a female passenger of a vehicle stating her significant other was physically assaulting her and refusing to let her out of the vehicle.
- The call taker kept the woman on the line and managed to obtain information that allowed troopers to locate the vehicle traveling westbound on an unknown highway towards downtown Phoenix.
- A trooper approached the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
- The vehicle refused to yield and the trooper quickly attempted to deploy his Grappler Police Bumper but was unsuccessful.
- The Phoenix Police air unit was overhead a short time later and began assisting troopers with tracking the vehicle.
- The vehicle exited the freeway and began fleeing on surface streets.
- Troopers initiated a pursuit with the vehicle due to victim being held inside the vehicle.
- Phoenix Police ground units responded to assist DPS as the pursued the vehicle through the downtown area north of I-10.
- A short time later ground units pulled back from the vehicle and allowed the air unit to track the suspect.
- The female victim jumped from the moving suspect vehicle near 17th Avenue and Van Buren Street and the suspect continued into the downtown/ Roosevelt row area.
- Troopers made contact with the female victim who sustained minor injuries.
- The suspect eventually made his way back into the neighborhoods north of the i-10 and foot bailed from the vehicle into a house near 9th Street and Oak Street.
- Troopers and Phoenix Police quickly converged on the home and began issuing commands to the suspect.
- The suspect eventually exited the home and was taken into custody without further incident.
- Fire crews responded to the scene and evaluated the suspected for minor injuries.
- He was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
- The female victim was evaluated by Phoenix Fire crews for minor injuries sustained during her escape but was not transported.
