Dog Survives After DUI Driver Crashes Into Work Truck | Twin Peaks

05.26.2022 | 7:07 PM | TWIN PEAKS – At about 7:07 first responders were dispatched to reports of a vehicle vs semi in twin peaks w/ injury

Upon arriving on scene first responders found no Semi, but they did find a Large construction pick up truck heavily loaded with construction equipment.

the vehicle sustained major damage, and thousands of dollars of construction equipment and machinery were scattered all over the highway shutting down highway 189.

The vehicle was occupied by 1 driver, a female passenger and a very cute and friendly black mid sized dog.

The driver was transported with unknown injuries, and was quickly determined to be heavily intoxicated.

The female passenger initially refused treatment and transport, but within about 30 minutes requested to be taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, LEAVING the dog behind and alone and unattended.

It took CHP almost 2.5 hours to investigate the incident.

Animal control was called for the dog, but the dog suddenly disappeared or was lost sight of so AC was cancelled.

Upon hearing that the dog was missing, a search was conducted by local citizens and the local media personal, to find that dog in the dark.

The dog was found hiding underneath a neighbors truck, no more than 15 ft away from the traffic collision.

CHP and citizens safely corralled the dog and he was loaded into the back of the CHP officers cruiser to be kept safe.

The incident is still under investigation.
