Distracted Driver Crashes Into Parked Van & Fire Hydrant

DETAILS:

 

1. The male driver of the Honda told officers that he was “distracted”, as he crashed into a parked van and then a fire hydrant further down the street.
2. The fire hydrant was sheared off, and water shot approximately 60 feet into the air.
3. The falling water broke out the rear window of the Honda and flooded it.
4. The water flowed for approximately 50 minutes until the Sweetwater Authority employee could shut it off.
5. The driver was not injured.
6. DUI was not a factor in this incident.
