Dispensary Employee Shoots Unarmed Teen

At approximately 10:13 p.m. on May 11, 2026, officers responded to a shooting at a smoke shop on Long Point Road in Houston.

Investigators say a juvenile male entered the business and was shot multiple times by a store employee as he attempted to leave the store.

The teen was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

According to investigators, the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation. Family members of the employee claimed the teen was attempting to steal vape products from the business before the confrontation occurred.

Authorities detained the employee at the scene while detectives from the Major Assaults Division continued the investigation.

Police later stated no charges were filed overnight and the case is expected to be referred to a grand jury.
