Deputy-Involved Shooting Follows Lake Jackson Pursuit
At approximately 12:09 a.m. on June 1, 2026, a Brazoria County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop near FM 2004 and This Way Street in Lake Jackson.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the driver failed to stop and led deputies on a pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed into the attached garage of a residence on Indian Warrior Trail.
Authorities said a deputy encountered the driver following the crash, and an officer-involved shooting occurred.
The driver sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Scanner traffic from the incident indicated EMS and Life Flight were requested to the scene, and CPR was later initiated during lifesaving efforts.
The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office has requested the Texas Rangers to lead the investigation in coordination with the Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office.
Per department policy, the involved deputy has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
Officials have not released additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the shooting, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
