Deputies Crash Into Vehicle During Pursuit

NOTE: CHP RIVERSIDE PIO, JAVIER NAVARRO HAS CONFIRMED THE FOLLOWING INFO, On 11/01/2025 at approximately 2214 hours, RSO was in a high-speed pursuit of a vehicle (lights and sirens activated) on Ramona Expressway westbound, east of Lake Perris Dr. A Honda Civic was driving southbound on Lake Perris Dr. and making a left turn onto Ramona Expressway eastbound, proceeding through the intersection. The RSO unit collided with the Honda in the intersection and the crash rendered both vehicles disabled. All parties were transported to a local hospital. Investigation is still on-going. 

RSO CONFIRMATION REGARDING THE PURSUIT –  According to RSO Lt. VICKERS, At 9:57 p.m., deputies with Riverside County Sheriffs Office were dispatched to the 300 block of Markham Street regarding a report of a suspicious person. The reporting party advised that the subject was possibly armed with a firearm. Upon arrival, deputies located a vehicle matching the description and attempted to stop it. The vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit terminated in the area of Evans Road and the Ramona Expressway, where three subjects ran from the vehicle. Three subjects were ultimately located and taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.

1. Cal fire, Riverside County firefighters responded to a traffic collision involving two vehicles.

2. When units arrived at the scene they found one Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy unit with major front end damage and about 200 yds down the road at the intersection of Ramona Expressway and Lake Perris Drive, a vehicle with major damage and three occupants.

3. In the video you can see Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies at the scene before firefighters arrived trying to communicate with the driver inside the car who was trapped.

4.  Firefighters arrived and extricated the victim who was transported to a local area trauma center suffering with critical injuries. Their current condition is unknown.

5. The Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy as well as a second occupant from the car were transported to a local area hospital suffering from unknown injuries.

6.  In the video you can also see an electrical box that was destroyed during the crash and the rear axle of the car that the deputy hit about 50 yards from the crash site, in a field.
