Demonstrators Protest TPUSA Event Outside Riverside Church
LOCATION: 6100 block of Arlington Ave
AREA/CITY: Riverside
DETAILS:
At approximately 7:00 p.m. on January 21st, 2026, demonstrators gathered outside Harvest Christian Fellowship in the 6100 block of Arlington Avenue in Riverside to protest an event being held inside the church.
The demonstration was organized in opposition to Turning Point USA and its co-leader Erika Kirk, who was scheduled to speak at the church as part of TPUSA’s “Make Heaven Crowded Tour.” According to the church, Harvest founder and Chief Pastor Greg Laurie was also expected to participate in the event.
The protest, titled “Stop the Hate,” was led by civil rights attorney James Gutierrez, who criticized Kirk’s political alignment and public positions, stating that he believed TPUSA and associated church leadership promoted views inconsistent with Christian love and unity.
As of the time of the demonstration, Harvest Christian Fellowship had not publicly responded to questions regarding the protest or the specific agenda of the TPUSA event. The gathering remained peaceful as demonstrators voiced their opposition outside the church campus.
