Deadly Shooting At San Diego Mosque Leaves 5 Dead

At approximately 11:50 a.m. on May 18, 2026, officers responded to reports of an active shooter at the Islamic Center of San Diego on Eckstrom Avenue.

Initial reports indicate two suspects entered the mosque and opened fire, killing a security guard and multiple victims inside the building.

Authorities say the suspects fled the area after the shooting and reportedly fired additional shots at a landscaper nearby, though no injuries were reported in that encounter.

A massive law enforcement and emergency response flooded the area as officers searched for the suspects.

The incident later ended when both suspects were found deceased from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Authorities confirmed a total of five fatalities, including the two suspects and the security guard.

The investigation remains ongoing.
