Deadly Freeway Crash Injures 2, Kills 1

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 10.23.23 | 11:24 PM
LOCATION: WB CA-60 Freeway east of Atlantic Avenue
CITY: Monterey Park
DETAILS:

1. At least one person was killed after a sedan slammed into the rear of a dump truck on the Pomona Freeway late Monday night.
2. 911 calls originally came in around 11:02 PM in regards to a moving hazard for a slow moving dump truck traveling east on the 60 freeway.
3. About 20 mins later, 911 calls came in of a Toyota Avalon that slammed into the rear of the slow moving vehicle.
4. At least one passenger was located unresponsive inside the vehicle.
5. Firefighters used the jaws of life to gain access to the victim, who was eventually pronounced deceased.
6. Two other occupants of the vehicle were taken to the hospital in unknown conditions.
7. All lanes but the HOV were blocked by CHP pending the arrival of LA County Coroner.
8. It is unclear if the dump truck driver was present at scene.
