Day 1 of Highland Line Fire

LOCATION: Base Line Street and Alpine Street
AREA/CITY: Highland (San Bernardino)
DETAILS:
- A quarter-acre brush fire sparked in the hills off the above location, moving at a moderate rate of spread in moderate fuels
- The fire made a run uphill with a potential for 50 acres
- As of 6:30 pm, the fire was approximately 15 acres moving north towards the forest; no structure threat, additional five engines, four crews, and two dozers were requested at the scene.
- The cause remains under investigation.
- The fire has now been mapped at 172 acres and is burning to the northeast into San Bernardino National Forest.
- As of 8:22, the fire is beginning to make a downhill push towards several neighborhoods in the eastern highland area.
