Day 1 of Highland Line Fire

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 5:50 pm 09-05-24
LOCATION: Base Line Street and Alpine Street
AREA/CITY: Highland (San Bernardino)
DETAILS:

  1. A quarter-acre brush fire sparked in the hills off the above location, moving at a moderate rate of spread in moderate fuels
  2. The fire made a run uphill with a potential for 50 acres
  3. As of 6:30 pm, the fire was approximately 15 acres moving north towards the forest; no structure threat, additional five engines, four crews, and two dozers were requested at the scene.
  4. The cause remains under investigation.
  5. The fire has now been mapped at 172 acres and is burning to the northeast into San Bernardino National Forest.
  6. As of 8:22, the fire is beginning to make a downhill push towards several neighborhoods in the eastern highland area.
