A police pursuit involving a Tesla Cybertruck ended in a violent crash early Friday morning in Porter Ranch.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on July 18, 2026, Los Angeles Police Department officers pursued a Tesla Cybertruck driven by a suspect wanted in connection with an alleged assault with a deadly weapon.
During the pursuit, officers received reports that the suspect may have thrown an object from the vehicle while traveling through the Sepulveda Pass near Mulholland Drive and Interstate 405.
The pursuit continued into Porter Ranch, where the California Highway Patrol assumed primary responsibility.
According to air support, muzzle flashes were reportedly observed coming from the Cybertruck while it traveled along the 118 and 210 freeways. Authorities have not released additional information regarding those observations.
The pursuit came to an end when the Cybertruck crashed off the westbound 118 Freeway at the De Soto Avenue exit, leaving the vehicle lodged in trees along an embankment.
The driver became trapped inside the wreckage and appeared to suffer serious injuries before being rescued by emergency crews.
No additional information has been released, and the incident remains under investigation.
