Crestline Man Dead After Car Soars 100s Of Feet Over Cliff

- One man was killed instantly after his vehicle soared almost 200 ft over the side and down the cliff of highway 18 near Crestline.
- At around 9:30 AM first responders were dispatched to highway 18 above upper waterman to multiple reports of a vehicle that had been traveling at a high rate of speed and flew off the highway, and launched off an embankment and soared 150-200 ft down the cliff side.
- when first responders arrived on scene they confirmed that white sedan was down the cliff and that witnesses had hiked down to try and help the victim.
- Fire fighters geared up and had to hike and rock climb down the cliff side where they found the white sedan, a couple of the good samaritans trying to render aid and the victim.
- Sadly, within just a few minutes of arriving on scene, first responders declared the victim deceased and cancelled all incoming resources.
- A coroner was requested, and fire requested an air shit with hoist capabilities to try and recover the body.
- As of about 430 PM today, the body had been successfully recovered, and a local tow company was working to recover the vehicle.
- No other injuries were reported and no other vehicles or victims were involved.
