Creek Fire Burns 500 Acres

LOCATION: Welch Road and Calaveras Creek Road.
AREA/CITY: Sunol
DETAILS:
- Firefighters responded to reports from a water district unit reporting a large column of smoke.
- Upon arrival, they located a 2-5 acres brush fire with a slow rate of spread.
- The fire quickly began to spread to 7 acres at a moderate rate. Additional resources were requested.
- The Fire continued to spread throughout the Sunos wilderness as firefighters worked to protect structures.
- The fire has currently burned 577 acres and is 0% contained.
