Covina: Armed Man Injured In Officer-Involved Shooting

09.19.2019 | 9:20 PM | COVINA – A man was injured after an officer-involved shooting that began when firefighters encountered the man armed with a rifle while fighting a vegetation fire, Thursday night.

Firefighters were battling a small vegetation fire near the intersection of West Badillo Street and Vincent Avenue around 9:20 PM when they encountered a man armed with a rifle.

The man quickly fled, jumping through the backyards of nearby homes as law enforcement responded to set-up a perimeter.

After approximately 4 hours officers located the man and an officer-involved shooting occurred.

Firefighter paramedics responded to the scene to treat the suspect before transporting him to Pomona Valley Hospital in traumatic full arrest.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
