The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating a major crash involving two construction workers.

A male driver in his early 20s was traveling eastbound on Crosby Freeway when he swerved out of his lane.

The vehicle struck two construction workers who were working in the area.

The driver continued traveling for a short distance before stopping.

Both construction workers, believed to be between their early and late 30s, were Life Flighted to a downtown hospital.

One of the construction workers was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The second worker remains in critical but stable condition.

The driver did not show signs of intoxication, and a standard field sobriety test confirmed he was not intoxicated.

Witnesses stated the driver stopped after continuing to roll for a short distance.
