Commerce: Railroad Tie Fire Prompts Evacuation Of Apartment Building

10.29.2019 | 3:23 AM | COMMERCE – A railroad tie fire prompted the evacuation of residents from a nearby apartment building, early Tuesday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a structure fire burning in the 1500 block of Ferguson Drive around 3:23 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a stockpile of railroad tie burning behind a two-story apartment building.

The fire spread to a garden shed and threatened was threatening to burn the apartment building prompting an evacuation of residents.

No injuries were reported and the extent of damage was unknown.

Investigators are on scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
