Citizen Rams Pursuit Suspect To Bring Police Pursuit to End in Lakeside Neighborhood
11.24.2020 | 11:34 AM | LAKESIDE, CA – A man is behind bars after a retired officer put an end to a vehicle pursuit utilizing his own vehicle Tuesday morning.
The sheriff’s received a call about a person who was assaulted (Battery) on Bridle Path Lane in Lakeside at 11:34 am.
A description of the suspect and his car were given as he had fled the scene.
Deputies spotted the suspect on Riverford Rd. and attempted to stop the suspect, who did not want to be stopped, and a high-speed pursuit was on.
The suspect ended up on Paseo Parkway Dr and into a cul-de-sac, where an elderly retired U.S. Immigration officer was working in a front yard.
When the pursuit went by him, he looked out and saw the suspect make the U-turn at the end of the cul-de-sac and start heading back down the street towards him.
The Good Samaritan jumped into action, blocking the street with his SUV.
When the suspect attempted to get by, the Good Samaritan purposely rammed and T-boned the suspect.
The Good Samaritan then jumped out of his SUV and grabbed the suspect before the deputies arrived.
When the deputies attempted to arrest the suspect, the suspect fought with the deputies until they overpowered the suspect.
The Good Samaritan was not injured in the incident, and was glad to end the pursuit and keep the neighborhood safe.
The Deputies found a loaded handgun, a large knife, and other weapons in the suspect’s car and just outside of the car.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital with a complaint of pain from the crash.
