Chula Vista: Truck Crashes Into Bank, Nearly Misses Woman

11.20.2018 | 11:40 AM | CHULA VISTA – A narrowly escaped injury after a truck came crashing into a bank while used an ATM, Tuesday morning.

Police and fire officials responded to reports of a vehicle that crashed into a bank in the 1100 block of Broadway shortly after 11:30 AM.

Units arriving on scene discovered a Dodge Ram pickup-truck that slammed into the front of a Chase Bank.

Several patrons and employees were inside the bank at the time of the crash.

One lady reported she had just moved to a different ATM terminal because the one closest to the front of the bank was not working. Had she not moved, the truck would have most likely struck her.

The force of the crash sent glass flying and caused at least two employees to be thrown from their desks. An older male nearby the ATMs was also injured.

In total, three victims from the bank were transported to area hospitals.

The driver of the truck reported to police that he mistook the gas pedal for his brakes, causing him link accelerate directly into the bank.

Officers administered field sobriety tests on scene before releasing the driver.
