Chula Vista Major Injury Collision

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 8-11-24 5:22 am
LOCATION: NB I-5 N/O Main St
AREA/CITY: Chula Vista
DETAILS:

1. A medic unit notified the CHP of a stalled vehicle that was “blacked out” in the #2 lane of the I-5 northbound traffic lanes.
2. It’s not known if the medic unit stayed to alert others.
3. A female driver in the white car then slammed into the SUV.
4. She went a little further in the traffic lanes, was trapped inside, and had major injuries.
5. The male driver of the SUV was taken out of the vehicle, and CPR was started on him.
6. The female had to be extricated from her vehicle.
7. Firefighters/paramedics did CPR for over 15 minutes, and the victim was transported to a local hospital in CPR status.
8. The female was transported with Major injuries.
9. Traffic was completely stopped for over 40 minutes, and then the #4 lane was opened for the other drivers.
10. The CHP is investigating.
