Chula Vista: Arsonist Caught Fueling Brush Fire (Caught On Camera)

06.22.2020 | 7:29 AM | CHULA VISTA – An arsonist was arrested after being caught on camera fueling a brush fire he reportedly started, Monday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a fire burning in a large field of brush near a homeless encampment at the intersection of Marine Parkway and J Street around 7:29 AM.

Units arriving on scene located the fire with a man, who witnesses say started the fire, throwing contents into the flames and fueling the fire.

Officers took the man into custody after he attempted to walk away and hide in the field.

The fire was quickly extinguished before it could cause any serious damage.

The man told officers he did not start the fire but admitted to fueling the flames by throwing contents into the flames.
