Christmas Tree Fire Spreads to Home, Destroys House | La Palma

1.04.2021 | 2:06 AM | LA PALMA – A single story home was destroyed after a fire that started from a Christmas Tree inside the structure consumed the rest of the building Monday morning.

Firefighters responded to the neighborhood northeast of Moody St & La Palma Avenue for the reported blaze shortly after 2 AM. More specifically, the 77oo Block of Laurelwood Lane.

Arriving, firefighters located a single story single family home fully involved in flames.

Firefighters immediately began attacking the blaze, as fire shot through the roof.

Firefighters were able to get much of the bulk of flames knocked down by about 2:25 AM.

There are no injuries to report, and no word yet on displacement.

The homeowner tells us he woke up to his smoke alarm going off and found his Christmas tree on fire before the rest of the house ignited.

The homeowner was able to escape the home with his dog, however believes his cat perished in the blaze.

The home is a total loss.
