CHP Pursuit of Reckless Driver | San Diego

4.17.2021 | 2:45 AM | SAN DIEGO – A man tried to evade capture after a CHP officer spotted a male in a Jeep driving erratically and then do a drift (going sideways) around a street corner, proceeding into the Clairemont area, then into Kearney Mesa Saturday morning.

The man was suspected of speeding and multiple running red lights and “Stop” signs.

The suspect made his way to the southbound I-805 and then the southbound SR-163, all of the time with several CHP units pursuing him.

As he entered Downtown, he took the 4th Ave exit and went southbound onto 4th Ave, and then pulled into the Atmosphere residential buildings parking structure.

He attempted to hide from the CHP officers by parking on the lower 3rd level of the underground parking, but the SDPD’s ABLE helicopter was overhead observing the Jeep.

Officers entered the underground parking, found the suspect, and arrested him.

He will face DUI, Felony Evasion, Reckless Driving charges, and numerous other traffic violations.
