CHP Officer Trapped in Car After Crashing With Wrong-Way Driver | Colton

05.27.2022 | 2:29 AM | COLTON – CHP attempted to stop a wrong way driver on the surface streets.

The two vehicles collided and at least one officer was trapped in wreckage for a period of time.

The suspect fled on foot westbound at Washington, where he was apprehended at the Del Taco.

The CHP Unit was occupied.

One of the officers sustained minor injuries with a chief complaint of neck and back pain.

Multiple Units from CHP and COLTON PD arrived on scene.

After the collision, the suspect who fled on foot was immediately pursued by one of the officers.

Other officers asked if the other officer saw what direction the suspect went, and that is when the officer advised that he was unable to see because he had been trapped in the vehicle.

The suspect is under investigation for DUI and felony hit and run.

The incident is under continued investigation

Both officers are reported to be safe aside from the one with some back pain.
