Child Reportedly Sets Christmas Tree on Fire Causing 2nd Alarm Fire | San Diego

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 12-15-22 1:38 pm LOCATION: 9934 San Juan St CITY: Casa de Oro DETAILS: It was reported that a young child set the family’s Christmas Tree on fire in a 1st floor apartment. The fire grew rapidly and people started to evacuate the apartment complex. The fire went through the ceiling and was burning a hole in the upstairs flooring. Firefighters arrived to heavy fire and smoke and started to aggresively attack the fire. They searched the aprtments as they were told there was victims inside, but they did not find anyone. 4 people suffered smoke inhalation but did not want to be transported to a local hospital for treatment. A dog that was caged in a kennel died in the fire. 2 apartments are uninhabitable and 2 more may be able to be repopulated. The SDSO Bome & Arson squad have been requested to come and investigate the cause of the fire. The American Red Cross has been requested to come and aid the displaced residents.
