Child Airlifted After Being Struck By a Truck

LOCATION: 871 Via Felicidad
AREA/CITY: Vista, California
DETAILS:

 

  1. At approximately 2:44 PM, 911 received reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision at the above location.
  2. Upon arrival, first responders found a 4-year-old child who had been struck by a truck while riding a bike.
  3. It is believed the truck was driving 30-40 MPH when it struck the child
  4. Immediate medical assistance was provided, and a helicopter was requested to transport the child to a trauma center.
  5. Shortly thereafter, the helicopter arrived, and the child was airlifted to a trauma center due to multiple traumatic injuries.
  6. The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the sheriff’s deputies.
  7. Currently, it is believed that drugs or alcohol did not play a role in this incident.
  8. The sheriff’s department is investigating the accident.
