Chatsworth: Teen Hiker, Dog Rescued After Fall In Santa Susana Pass Park
04.28.2020 | 4:24 PM | CHATSWORTH – A 16-year-old hiker and his canine companion were rescued after falling in the Santa Susana Pass Historic State Park, Tuesday evening.
Authorities responded to reports of a hiker who was injured after falling in the Santa Susana Pass Historic State Park located in the 22400 block of Santa Susana Pass Road around 4:24 PM.
Units arriving on scene located the three individuals including a 16-year-old boy and his dog in dense brush about 100 yards from the nearest road.
A helicopter was unable to access so firefighters initiated a rescue utilizing a two-line rope system.
The rescue was executed without incident and both the boy and his dog were pulled to safety. The boy’s father and his friend were also brought up to safety but did not suffer any injuries.
Paramedics treated the boy on scene for an ankle injury and transported him to an area hospital.
The boy’s dog was uninjured and released to his father.
