Chaotic Night of Street Takeovers Across LA
Between approximately 12:00am and 3:00am on March 22nd, 2026, Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to multiple street takeovers across South Los Angeles and the Harbor Gateway area.
The first takeover occurred near Alondra Boulevard and Figueroa Street, where a large crowd gathered and patrol units attempted to manage the scene. Officers were able to impound two vehicles for spectating while awaiting tow trucks. The crowd eventually dispersed on their own, possibly moving to another location.
A second takeover was reported near Western Avenue and Century Boulevard, where more than 100 spectators filled the intersection. LAPD officers responded and dispersed the crowd within a short period of time. A black sedan, possibly stolen, was left heavily damaged in the intersection.
Authorities stopped several vehicles during the incident, towing at least one truck, while the driver was cited and released.
During the takeovers, one individual was reportedly struck by a vehicle but was able to walk away without serious injuries. Public transit buses in the area were temporarily stuck as crowds gathered around and on top of them.
The investigation remained ongoing.
