Cerritos: Motorcyclist Fatally Ejected Into Van After Striking Disabled Vehicle

08.07.2019 | 12:00 AM | CERRITOS – A motorcyclist who struck a disabled vehicle was dead after being ejected into the backseat, early Wednesday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a motorcyclist along the eastbound SR-91 just west of Pioneer Boulevard around 12:00 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a motorcyclist who was ejected into the rear of a van suffering from major injuries.

Firefighter paramedics treated the motorcyclist on scene before transporting him to UCI Medical Center in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities identified the victim as 29-year-old Raymond Ruvalcaba of Torrance.

The driver of the van, identified as 21-year-old Luis Rivera Hernandez of Long Beach, suffered only minor injuries and was placed under arrest on suspicion of DUI.

Initial reports indicate that the van driven by Hernandez collided with a center divider and became disabled before being sideswiped by another vehicle.

Moment later Ruvalcaba struck the van which was reportedly blacked-out and disabled in lanes causing him to be ejected into van through a window.
