Caught On Camera! SUV Collides with Unattended Trailer on I-10 | Phoenix

DETAILS:

• AZ DPS received reports of a trailer blocking the middle lanes of westbound I-10 near 27th Avenue shortly after midnight.
• The trailer was described as a pickup truck sized trailer blocking the number 4 lane with no lights on that was not attached to a vehicle.
• Several unsuspecting vehicles were seen swerving to avoid the trailer.
• At approximately 12:13 AM, a black SUV struck the trailer at highway speed.
• The collision blocked multiple lanes and brought traffic to a sudden stop.
• Several DPS troopers and Phoenix Fire crews quickly converged on the scene.
• All lanes except the HOV lane were temporarily closed while units worked the scene, causing a significant traffic delay in the area.
• The SUV was occupied by an adult male and an adult female.
• Miraculously, both the driver and passenger sustained only minor injuries and refused transport to the hospital.
• DPS troopers worked quickly to clear the wreckage from the mainline to restore the flow of traffic.
• According to DPS, the trailer belongs to a street sweeping company.
• The trailer somehow became detached from a large truck as it drove westbound and came to a stop in the middle of the 10.
• The truck that lost the trailer and several other employees from the sweeper company returned to the scene shortly after the collision.
• Troopers are currently speaking with the driver of the sweeper.
• Details surrounding how the trailer fell off the vehicle are unknown.
