*CAUGHT ON CAMERA* Armed Female Beanbagged While Attempting to Shoot Herself | Ventura
05.03.2021 | 2:04 AM | VENTURA – Ventura Police officers responded to a call of a subject sitting in a chair with a gun to their head in the middle of N Ventura Ave and W Ramona St.
Officers located a woman with a silver object in her hand at the reported location and was promptly ordered to drop the object, however she refused to comply and proceeded to walk north on Ventura Ave.
After several minutes of walking away, the woman eventually stopped and dropped the object while facing away from officers.
Officers utilized the BearCat to get closer and confirmed the object on the ground was in fact a small, silver handgun.
A Crisis Team attempted to negotiate with the woman for over 45 minutes with no results.
The woman finally turned around to face officers while making gestures and proceeded to reach down, pick up the gun and put it up to her left temple.
Officers immediately fired less-lethal beanbag rounds causing her to fall to the ground, dropping the gun in the process.
The woman was fully compliant at that point and was taken into custody. She was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The firearm was later confirmed to be a replica.
