Castaic: Semi Truck Loaded With Dog Food Overturns

08.19.2020 | 1:38 AM | CASTAIC – A semi truck loaded with 40,000 pounds of dog food overturned afer the driver reportedly fell asleep, early Wednesday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of an overturned semi truck on The Old Lake and Lake Hughes roads, near the I-5 Freeway, around 1:38 AM.

Crews arriving on scene located the overturned semi truck with a small patch of grass burning.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the grass fire and determined two occupants from the truck had escaped injury.

The truck was hauling about 40,000 pounds of dog food when it collided.

Initial reports indicate the driver fell asleep causing the crash.
