Castaic: Nearly 60 Acres Scorched By Overnight Brush Fire
06.08.2020 | 3:44 AM | LOS ANGELES – An overnight brush fire that threatened the Pitchess Detention Center burned nearly 60 acres, early Monday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a brush fire burning in the 29600 block of Tapia Canyon Road in the Castaic area around 3:44 AM.
Crews arriving on scene located the fire that was quickly spreading and threatening several buildings including the Pitchess Detention Center due to 15 MPH winds.
Firefighters attacked the blaze from the ground and air using three helicopters to douse the blaze which consumer nearly 60 acres before being contained.
It was unclear if any buildings burned as a result of the fire or if any injuries were reported.
