Carson: Explosive Fire Breaks Out At Marathon Petroleum Refinery

02.25.2020 | 10:50 PM | CARSON – An explosive fire broke out at a petroleum refinery, late Tuesday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a fire with explosions at the Marathon Petroleum Refiner located in the 2300 block of East 223rd Street around 10:50 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a fire, possibly involving hydrogen, and worked to contain the hazards posed by the fire which burned for at least an hour.

No injuries were reported but several roads in the area were closed while crews were on scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
