Carjacking/Shooting Suspect Crashes Involving 6 Vehicles | San Diego
04.17.2022 | 1:00 PM | SAN DIEGO – Undercover Special Operations Unit Detectives witnessed the male driver of the black KIA drive into the parking lot of Emerald Hill Park in Emerald Hills and start firing a handgun at people in the park and then fled. The driver left with the officers in pursuit. It’s not known if anyone was hit by the gunfire. The driver fled at high speeds on city streets and made his way through the Oak Park, El Cerrito, City Heights neighborhoods, and then through North Park into the Marston Hills area as he was running “red” lights and stop signs. Once on Myrtle Ave, he was going over 75 mph and started to hit several vehicles. He got airborne at one point before coming to a stop. One family was playing croquet in the front yard and had to run for cover as debris came flying at them from the crashes. The suspect got out and ran, and was captured at gunpoint by the officers.
