Car Stolen With Infant Reportedly Inside In Highland Park
Los Angeles Police launched a search early Monday morning after a man reported that his vehicle had been stolen with a young infant possibly still inside.
At approximately 1:15 a.m. on August 3, 2026, police received a report of a man knocking on a resident’s front door near Avenue 43 and Homer Street in Highland Park, saying his vehicle had just been stolen with a child inside.
Officers located the man, who reported that his silver Fiat SUV had been taken by a woman described as having dreadlocks.
According to preliminary information from the scene, a child believed to be approximately four weeks old may have been inside the vehicle in a car seat when it was taken.
The SUV was reportedly last seen traveling uphill on Avenue 43 from Homer Street.
An LAPD helicopter circled the surrounding neighborhood as officers searched for the vehicle.
No additional information was available at the scene, including whether the vehicle or infant had been located. The circumstances surrounding the reported theft remain under investigation.
