Car Nose Dives Off Overpass in Riverside

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 2-4-24, 3:34 a.m.
LOCATION: NB SR 91 and Spruce Off-ramp

1. California Highway Patrol, Riverside, and Riverside Fire Department responded to reports of a vehicle that had gone off an overpass and landed below on its front end.
2. When units arrived, they found one vehicle that had left the overpass and landed about 50 feet below.
3. Firefighters made access to the vehicle, which was empty.
4. At this time, it appears that the vehicle came off the off-ramp at a high speed and through the intersection, through the chain link fence, and off the overpass.
5. It isn’t known if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
6. CHP said it sounded like the driver was driving too fast, sliding on the wet roads, and went off the overpass.
