Car-Jacking Suspect Captured After Victim Fires Gun

DETAILS:
- The male victim was in his Mercedes and attempting to make a left-hand turn into his apartment complex on 11th St.
- Suddenly, a truck pulled up, and two males got out and ran up to the victim.
- They were able to get him to get him out of his car and attempted to rob him of his jewelry and then car-jack the victim.
- The victim has a “Concealed Weapons Permit” a.k.a CCW. He pulled out his weapon and fired off a shot.
- The two suspects then fled on foot, leaving the truck behind.
- Police set up a perimeter quickly after 911 was called.
- A resident called the Police, stating that they saw a male jump over a fence and into their backyard.
- The resident said he had armed himself, and the Police asked him to stay in the house.
- K-9s from SDPD and SDSO were called in, along with an NCPD K9.
- The backyard was filled with items, and an SDPD Drone Uni was called in to search the backyard.
- The suspect was believed to be armed and dangerous as one of the suspects had discarded a handgun onto the street, and they fled.
- The Drones did not find anyone, and officers went into the backyard without finding the suspect.
- As the officers were preparing to stand down, an officer found the male hiding under a vehicle that had a tarps covering it.
- The suspect finally surrendered to the officers.
- The suspect had been lying quietly under the vehicle for hours, not 12 feet away from the officers who had been standing in front of the house.
