Car Hauler Fire Shuts Down The Freeway

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 9-11-24, 10:05 p.m.
LOCATION: SR60 W / GILMAN SPRINGS RD
AREA/CITY: Moreno Valley
DETAILS:

1. California Highway Patrol, Riverside and Cal Fire, Riverside County responded to a car hauler fire on the freeway.
2. When units arrived, they found a car hauler trailer fully involved with fire, the cab of the truck had disconnected and pulled away.
3. The hauler had 7 new cars on it, all were a total loss.
4. Several small explosions could be hears from the tires on the cars popping.
5. All lanes on the WB side of the 60 were stopped while firefighters took care of the fire, about 20 minutes.
6. A SIG alert was issued for at least an hour for clean up, as of midnight the SIG alert is still in effect.
7. No injuries were reported.
