Car Erupts Into Flames After Crashing Into Power Pole

Tempe Fire responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident at the northwest corner of Scottsdale Road and Red Mountain L-202.
A car collided with a power pole, causing the pole to become severed at the base and causing the vehicle to burst into flames.
According to Tempe Fire radio traffic:
One 15-year-old patient was transported from the scene in unknown condition to a local area hospital.
Firefighters carefully applied water to the fire furthest from the power lines as they investigated whether the lines were still active.
Once the power lines were confirmed to be de-energized, fire crews quickly extinguished the fire.
Due to the power in the area being affected by the fire, several intersection traffic signals were disabled.
Officers closed North and southbound traffic on Scottsdale Road on the North side of the L-202.
DPS was requested to shut down the eastbound exit ramp to Scottsdale Road.
