Camarillo: Mountain Lion Struck, Killed While Crossing Freeway

03.08.2020 | 4:22 AM | CAMARILLO – A mountain lion was struck and killed by vehicle as it crossed a busy freeway, early Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a mountain lion on the northbound lanes of the SR-101 Freeway near the Conejo Scales around 4:22 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a mountain lion deceased in the roadway and a female inside a vehicle with moderate damage.

Firefighter paramedics treated the woman on scene before transporting her to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Officers contacted the California Department of Fish and Wildlife regarding the mountain lion’s death and removed the body from lanes of traffic.
