Bystanders Help Ducklings & Momma Duck Cross Busy Street
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 7.12.25 | 7:45 PM
LOCATION: La Habra Blvd & El Portal Drive
AREA/CITY: La Habra
DETAILS:
- An OSV photographer was driving eastbound on La Habra Blvd just east of Beach Blvd when he came across a man stopping traffic
- Upon stopping for the man, a woman emerged from the center media and was seen assisting 7 ducklings and a momma duck cross La Habra Blvd while the man held his hands up to stop lanes of travel
- The couple effectively stopped all eastbound and westbound lanes to allow the duck family to cross the road
- The couple were nearby residents who off camera stated that they cross the blvd every year trying to get into a drainage ditch
- The family of ducklings were seen following the mother down Colleen Street and onto Lorella Avenue, with residents coming outside to admire the spectacle
- The photographer fended off a cat at one point who was eager to jump at the ducklings. The cat ran off and did not harm the family.
- The group crossed the streets numerous times, with drivers slowing down and stopping for them
- It appears the family was having difficulty getting to the canal due to fencing. A attempt to contact La Habra animal control was not successful due to it being after operating hours.
- They eventually walked into a private property and out of view.
- Quack.
