Butte County: Camp Fire Continues to Ravage, Destroying Homes
11.09.2018 | 12:00 AM | BUTTE COUNTY – The fast-moving Camp Fire continued to devastate Northern California, early Friday morning.
The fire which has exploded to over 70,000 acres and resulted in multiple deaths, thousands of evacuations, and endless destruction continued to ravage Butte County.
CalFire firefighters were continuing to battle the blaze on all fronts overnight. Multiple crews were positioned to defend against the spread of flames to nearby homes and properties.
Despite best efforts, several homes were lost in 3400 block of Skycrest Drive as the wind-driven fire blazed through. Fortunately, crews were able to spare the popular Scooter’s CafeĀ and Jarbo Gap Fire Station – for now.
Heavy winds contributing to firestorm activity complicated efforts to fight the blaze and contributed to a rapid rate of spread.
At this time no containment has been reported and as many as 1,000 structures have been damaged.
