Bus Driver Rescued After Being Taken Hostage & Forced To Flee Officers
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 9-25-24 | 1:00 a.m.
LOCATION: Alameda & 6th St
AREA/CITY: Los Angeles
DETAILS:
- LAPD was in pursuit of an MTA Bus that has been hijacked
- There was a suspect holding the driver hostage
- Possibly a victim of a GSW on the bus
- Officers deployed several spike strips
- Eventually the bus became disabled near Alameda & 6th St
- The suspect, the driver & the innocent passenger remained in the bus
- It appears the suspect would not allow the driver & passenger to escape
- LAPD SWAT arrived & developed a plan
- SWAT deployed a flash bang and entered the bus
- The bus driver jumped out of the driver side window to safety
- The suspect was taken into custody
- The passenger who was shot unfortunately has passed away
- LAPD is still actively investigating this incident
