Burglar Shot By Homeowner

According to Phoenix Police, officers responded to reports of a possible burglary/home invasion in progress at an occupied residence near 11th Street and Fillmore Street shortly after 4:00 AM.

Officers received information stating the homeowner shot the burglary suspect, and the suspect fled.

Officers established a perimeter around the area and surrounded the home.

Minutes later, the injured suspect exited an alleyway onto 11th Street on foot.

A nearby officer, on a perimeter position, spotted the suspect and quickly took him into custody.

An officer working the perimeter staged at 11th Street and Pierce Street immediately spotted the suspect.

The officer quickly took the suspect into custody without incident.

Phoenix Fire crews responded to the scene and transported the suspect to a nearby trauma center.

The suspect’s injuries are non-life-threatening.

Officers and detectives are on scene at the residence, interviewing the victims.

They have not reported any injuries.
