10.04.20 | 10:54 PM | APPLE VALLEY – Apple Valley Fire received multiple reports of a fire on the hills above the Horseman’s Center in Apple Valley. Fire crews arrived on scene and located the fire, reporting 1 acre with slow rate of spread. San Bernardino County’s Helicopter (40King) arrived and helped crews find the best access to hike up to the fire. Due to the terrain the brush engines were not able to access the fire. Fire crews had to hike up very steep, rocky terrain to reach the fire. The fire was contained just before midnight. Crews will remain on scene for a few hours doing mop up. Apple Valley Fire Protection District’s Battalion Chief Jim Hulbert said the fire burned approximately 5-7 acres. CalFire and Victorville City Fire also assisted with the fire.
