Boulder Peak Fire Burns Several Hundred Acres

The Boulder Peak Fire started around 2:30 pm on Thursday June, 27, approximately 4.5 miles east of Carefree, in North Scottsdale near the Boulder Heights subdivision. Per Air Attack the fire is 500 acres and is burning to the north and the south. Along the east side, the fire has checked up on the Wildcat Fire burn scar and activity has slowed. However, overall fire behavior remains active. Along the left flank crews are burning off the Bartlett Lake road to tie the fire back into the heel and keep the fire from progressing to the north. The right flank of the fire is moving to the southeast toward the community of Vista Verde. Five structures in the immediate vicinity of the fire were evacuated and 50 structures are threatened along with infrastructure, to include, high voltage power lines and the Sonoran Desert. The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management along with the Tonto National Forest are managing the fire at this time. Multiple resources ordered or are on scene, including three state Type 2 hand crews, multiple Interagency Hand Crews, and engines, along with heavy aircraft including a Very Large Air Tanker, a Large Air Tanker, four Single Engine Air Tankers, two helicopters and Air Attack. Approximately 150 personnel assigned.
