Border Patrol Pursuit Ends in Injury Crash | Chula Vista

07.26.2022 | 11:45 AM | CHULA VISTA – The U.S. Border Patrol attempted to stop a black sedan believing it was involved in human smuggling. The pursuit started around the Otay Lakes area and headed westbound. The Agents used a “spike strip” at one point and hit one of the tires. The male driver continued to flee at high speed and went through the busy “Eastlake” area of Chula Vista. The driver attempted to turn south onto the SR-125, but his left driver’s side tire was flat. The driver started to lose control and an Agent did a “Pit Maneuver” on the car. This brought the vehicle to a stop and the driver and up to 5 other males were detained. One male was transported to a local hospital for an unknown injury from the collision. The southbound on-ramp is closed for the investigation and clean-up.
